Hey y’all,
I’m sitting in bed at NHRMC this sunny Monday morning, thinking through my priorities for the day – shower, daily prayer practice, read, update you… Today is day 16! here and I don’t have much to show for all this time here.
I am grateful for the outpouring of encouragement from friends and family. I’m glad you like the blog!
Several days ago, I was making progress towards pain medication weaning until I wasn’t – I became pretty miserable, well past my breaking point. Thankfully, the doctor could see it, could see me, in my pain. With some discussion among this doctor and a palliative care provider, we were able to change course and treat my pain again. For the last few days, I’ve been on a pretty solid pain medication regimen – pain was minimal most of the time.
Starting ~ noon today, my pain medication will decrease per a protocol from the gastroenterology group at UNC. I’ll have additional medications available to make the decreases less uncomfortable. It should take 5 days; ending with little to no pain even without medication.
So…
These next few days will likely be rough. I could use continued encouragement, prayers & hugs (in person or virtual). THANKS!
One of the strongest people I know.
